About BEGWS

Bath Electric, Gas and Water Systems (BEGWS) is a municipal utility owned by the Village of Bath since 1936. BEGWS provides electric, gas, water and sewer services to residents in the Village of Bath and to a portion of residents in the Town of Bath.

BEGWS strives to provide safe and reliable utility services at attractive rates. Its dedicated work force provides round-the-clock utility services and support and is committed to serving the Bath community.

Image-BucketThe Village of Bath Municipal Utility Commission, which consists of five members appointed by the Village of Bath Board of Trustees, is responsible for the overall management of BEGWS. The Director of Municipal Utilities and Assistant Director of Municipal Utilities are responsible for managing and overseeing the day-to-day operations.

Employees in five departments comprise BEGWS: Electric Line Department, Utilities Service Department, Underground Lines and Mains Department, Wastewater Treatment Plant, and the Commercial/Customer Service Office.

The BEGWS Commercial Office, which is located at 7 South Avenue, Bath, NY 14810, is where customers sign up for new service, pay their utility bills and/or inquire about the services and programs offered.
